Two additions to the range of Casio G-Shock watches will be released this year. Casio Japan has announced that is will be supporting the Red Bull Air Race World Championship with the launching of the new G-Shock GW-3000 .The three new GW-3000 G-Shock models will be available on the market, in Japan, towards the end of this month (February, 2010).

Designed to fit the needs of pilots, the new G-Shock GW-3000 watch series has already received ISO2669 certification (environmental tests for aircraft equipment and steady-state acceleration). While this fact makes it a suitable watch for its target market of aviators, the GW-3000 series has many other extra features.

Like all G-Shock watches, the new series are waterproof and shock resistant. They also have a ‘tough solar function’, meaning that the watches can recharge when exposed to light. All three models are analog watches ((set themselves via radio) and feature Multiband 6 atomic synchronization (time calibration signals from six stations in Japan, the U.S., Germany, China and the U.K.) and they can display 29 world time cities.

The beautifully designed watch will be available in three models: GW-3000D (silver and metal), GW-3000B (black and orange) and GW-3000BD (black and blue). The face design of these watches, which are larger than the recent G-7900 models, appears to be inspired by the gauges in the cockpit. The watch has a urethane bezel for protection and the wrist band is plastic for the GW-3000B and GW-3000BD models and stainless steel for the GW-3000D model. Prices will range from about $375 (GW-3000B) to $530 (GW-3000BD). As stated above, the Casio GW-3000 G-Shock models will be available very soon in Japan. There is no word as yet as to when they will be available outside of that country.

Casio’s Eco-Baby-G BGR300-3

If you live in the U.S., however, you should not feel left out. The second 2010 addition to Casio’s G-Shock watch range was announced by Casio America, Inc. and it most certainly will be available in the US market. The new Eco-Baby-G BGR300-3 will be released to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and it will be available in the U.S. in March.

This latest addition to Casio’s Baby G watch series also features Tough Solar Technology, which means there should be no need to change the watch’s batteries. This will help to reduce toxic contamination by heavy metals in landfills that results from discarded watch batteries. The watch comes in an eco-friendly vivid green color with white letters and controls and has a silver aluminum bezel. Not only that, but you’ll be happy to know that the Eco-Baby-G BGR300-3 will be packaged in a 100% recyclable box.

Well, it IS less expensive than the G-Shock GW-3000 (suggested retail price is $110) – and vibrant colors are in this spring .

If you think you might like to make minor repairs on your watch (or watches), it’s important that you make sure you have the proper tools to do so successfully – before you start on your repair project. Labor costs can be very high, and doing some of the simpler, less technical, watch repairs yourself will save you a considerable amount of money. Whether you are interested in home watch repairs for economic or other reasons, purchasing the appropriate tool(s) for the repair job you have in mind is a wise investment.

The first thing you need of course is a proper place to work on your watch – a workplace. Clear a flat surface (table, desk) and make sure that the area is well lit (a fluorescent lamp is your best option). Spread a light-colored cloth on the work surface (if possible, use thumbtacks or tape to keep it in place) so that you can see tiny watch screws and other parts as you work. A soft, think cloth will also protect your watch if you drop it on the work surface.

A container for watch parts is essential if you don’t want to loose parts. Any inexpensive compartmentalized container will do. Make sure to place each watch part that you remove directly into one of the compartments. Setting up an order (right to left, or left to right) will help you put the parts back in the correct sequence.

You’ll need to see what you’re doing. In addition to a good lamp, you should also have some sort of magnifying tool, like a hand-held magnifier.

A watch case holder, while not essential, will help you to keep the watch in place so you don’t drop it as you work.

Appropriate size screwdrivers are important for ALL home watch repairs. Watch screwdrivers are available in sets, or they can be purchased as part of a basic watch repair tool kit (these kits can be bought for about $25). Using cheaper screwdrivers could damage watch screws.

You’ll also need tweezers for handling small watch parts. Any good quality metal tweezers will do, but they should have beveled edges. Clip spring pliers (more precise than regular tweezers) are available for under $10.

For replacing or repairing watch bands, you’ll need link pin and spring bar removers. A link pin remover is a tool used to push out the pins that hold your watch band together when you want to add or take out links and it costs about $15 or so, but you can also purchase watch band repair kits or pin-removing kits for as little as $20.

If you’re going to be working on an expensive watch and you need to open the case, it’s best to get the special case opener for you watch model. Otherwise, case openers are usually included in basic watch repair kits.

The most common watch repair that most people will be tempted to do at home is replacing a watch battery. Purchasing a battery tester for about $12 is well worth the investment. This tool lets you make sure that the reason your watch has stopped is that the battery is dead – before you change it. A small flat head screw driver to unscrew the back of the case is also needed, and in some cases a watch knife opener may be needed as well.

For cleaning watch parts, you need polishing cloths, scratch brushes (a paint brush with a coarse tip will do as will many of eye make-up brushes) and cleaning fluid such as Naphta to soak small parts in. Once they are clean, let them dry out completely before replacing them in the watch. The fluid will evaporate, but you can use a blow dryer to reduce the waiting time.

Don’t forget to always keep the manual that comes with your watch when you purchase it. It contains important information for the maintenance of your watch. You can also find free online copies of watch manuals on the websites of some better-known watch brands (Casio, Timex …).

More and more people are tackling DIY repairs of all kinds, but this generally doesn’t include repairing watches. Most people automatically take their watches to a jewelry store or to a watch repair professional to be fixed. Only a few of us possess the necessary knowledge about the inner workings of watches to successfully repair them at home, but this doesn’t mean that we need to pay for minor watch mending and repair tasks. Some of the most common repairs that every watch will need sooner or later, which anyone can do at home (with a little bit of perseverance) are described below:

Cleaning, Replacing and Re-sizing Watchbands

Cleaning: Leather watchbands are usually pricey and they will last longer if you clean them occasionally. To limit damage caused by perspiration, take off your watch at night and let the leather breathe. Every week or so, remember to clean your leather watchband with a damp cloth.

To clean the band thoroughly, you must remove it from the case by detaching the pins. Mix 1 tbsp. of baking soda with 1 tbsp. of water and rub the paste on both sides of the watchband to clean stains and remove odors. Let it dry for about an hour. Next, wash off the paste and air dry the watchband completely (you should probably wait 8 to 12 hours). Once it has dried, use saddle soap of olive oil to bring back the leather’s natural sheen. Polish with a clean, soft cloth before reattaching to the watch case.

To clean metal watchbands, simply dip the watchband (NOT the watch itself) into a solution of 1 cup water and 2 drops of ammonia. Remove after 1 minute or less and rinse in clean water. Dry the watchband with an absorbent cloth.

Replacing: The first time you replace a watchband, you may find handling the spring-loaded holding pins a bit trying. First, measure your old watchband (its length and especially its width where it connects to the case). Next, select a replacement watchband of the correct size. The replacement band doesn’t necessarily have to be the same material as the old one. As long as the measurements match, your new watchband may be leather, plastic or metal.

Watchbands are generally connected to the watch case with spring-loaded retractable pins. To remove the old watchband, lay the watch on its side then insert a tiny screw driver or a special watch repair pin pusher tool into the space on either side of the pin that connects the band to the watch case. Push gently until it pops out of the holes holding it in place (‘lug holes’). Clean out the holes on the watch case using a pin or the point of a paper clip.

To install the new watch band, place the pins in each end of the new band and simply slide one side of the spring pin into a hole and push the watchband in place. If you are not able to slide the pin into the opposite lug hole, use a pin pusher, screw driver or other appropriate-size implement to compress the pin so that it slides into the second lug hole. Repeat this process to fix the other side of the new watchband to the opposite side of the watch case.

Finally, adjust the length of your new watchband. For leather or plastic watchbands, you may need to add holes. If your metal watchband is not the self-expanding type, adjusting its length will involve adding or removing links.

Re-sizing: Decide how many links you need to remove by measuring the new band against your old one or by wearing your watch and pinching the band to the right fit. Although there are removable links on both sides of the band clasp, there are usually more on one side than the other. The removable links have larger link pin holes than the other links.

Locate the links that you want to remove, put the watch on its side then put the first link you want to remove in a clamp, pin facing up. Use a small hammer to tap out pins that are flat and use your fingers to remove them completely. On some watchbands the pin heads will have a screw driver groove, and these will have to be screwed out with tiny screw driver. Be patient to avoid bending the pin and ruining it. Repeat to remove the necessary number of links.

The process described above can differ slightly according to watch brand. The pins on Elgin watches, for example, have tiny indentations on one side. You can insert an unfolded paper clip, a thumb tack or a straight pin into this indentation then gently tap it out. Fossil watchbands usually have two arrows on the two links closest to the clasp, with two holes on the edge of the links showing where the pins are. Tap out the pins in the direction indicated by the arrows. These are easier to re-size because you can simply separate the links with your finger nails or with clip-removing pliers.

Once you’ve removed the necessary number of links, re-attach the clasp to the shortened band. Fit the clasp and the band together, replace the pin in the joint between the two links and tap (or screw) in the pin. Some metal watchbands have links that are held together with clips.

2. Replacing Watch Crystals:

The crystal is the piece that covers your watch dial. Made of glass, plastic, or (in more expensive watches) of man-made sapphire, it can often get scratched, gouged or even broken. Whether or not you will have trouble locating a replacement crystal that is exactly the same as your old one depends on the age and brand of your watch. Sometimes, you’ll have to install a new crystal made of a different material.

Once you have bought a replacement crystal, you have to remove the damaged one. The first thing to do is to remove the back of the watch. Some watch backs can be pushed out from the back of the watch and others need to be screwed off. After removing the back, carefully take the watch movement out of the case. If your watch is a mechanical one, you’ll need to first remove the crown (the knob you use to wind the watch). Push the damaged crystal out, insert the new one and put the watch back together. Some watch brand backs can only be removed by professionals

3. Changing A Watch Battery:

Watch batteries are inexpensive and they are easy to replace. The alkaline batteries used in low-cost watches often need to be replaced after about six months, and the more expensive lithium batteries can run for as long as ten years. Check your watch manual to learn the specifications of the replacement battery you need to buy. If you no longer have the manual, take your old battery to the store with you and make sure the replacement battery you buy has numbers on it that match your old one. Make sure you get the right kind of battery (alkaline, lithium, silver oxide …).

Remove the screws from the back of the watch. If you need to pry open the back with the screwdriver, be careful not to scratch it. After the back is removed, you’ll see the battery. It will be held in place by a steel fastening that you’ll have to unscrew too.

Install the new battery facing the same direction as the old one, put back the steal fastening exactly as it was and refasten the screws, then replace the watch back.

For any of the simple repairs described above, it’s important to securely close the back of the watch when you replace it. Sometimes there is a mark or notch on the inside of the back that has to be aligned with the crown or stem before you press the backing back on. For watches with screws on the back, you should tighten the screws evenly and avoid over tightening as this could damage the screws.

Whether you should view the fixing of your watch as an expense or an investment depends on one thing only – the value of the watch. As a rule, the repair (and maintenance) of any watch whose market value increases with time should be viewed as an investment. But market value is not everything; many watches carry a sentimental value that exceeds their market value. Caring for a watch that you have inherited and intend to pass along to your children is obviously an investment. The watch your grandmother gave you may cost more to repair than to replace, but you may feel that it is well worth the investment. Almost all older (usually mechanical) watches with a sentimental value can be fixed – because they were designed that way.

All mechanisms, including watches, need maintenance. To minimize the investment cost, you should always maintain watches that are valuable to you. Don’t wait until they need to be repaired. Neglecting to service a valuable watch, especially an older watch, can be a very costly mistake.

How often your watch needs to be serviced depends mainly on the watch’s water-resistance level and whether you use it frequently. Old wrist and pocket watches with unsealed crowns let dust and moisture into the case, causing the parts to wear out. These should be serviced about once a year. Watches with water-resistant sealing may only need to be serviced every five years or so (to replace the oil), as long as their owners respect the inscriptions on the case back (‘100 meters’, or whatever). Quartz analog watches also require routine servicing to lubricate the mechanical part of the movement.

Watch repair is skilled labor, which is always pricey. Moreover, the number of qualified, highly-trained watchmakers in the U.S. has fallen significantly over the past decade (American Watchmakers’ Institute), increasing the cost – and the time needed - for proper watch repair. If you value your watch, make sure to service it regularly. If it needs repairs, pay the price and consider it an investment. After all, “You can have it fast, perfect or cheap, but you can’t have all three.”

Well, maybe you CAN! Notwithstanding technological advances (automatic watch-cleaning machines and other sophisticated repair machinery), basic watch repair skills have remained more or less unchanged over the past 300 years. These skills continue to revolve around taking a watch completely apart, inspecting its parts for damage, cleaning, hand-oiling, fixing any broken, worn or missing parts and, for watches over 150 years old or so, making parts that are no longer readily available, such as winding stems or even escape wheels.

Unaffected by the passage of time and the advance of technology, competent and significantly less expensive watch repair is still available in many poorer countries. If you simply cannot afford the cost of repairing a watch that you really value at home, consider taking it along with you on a trip overseas. You may be pleasantly surprised at how fast, cheap AND perfect your watch repair investment will be!

New Designer Ioniz 1001 ing Magnetic Bracelets These New Designer Health Bracelets Emit 1200 Anions/cc For Powerful Health Energy. They Are Elegant & Unique, Stylish & Chic. Very Reasonable Priced. Tested & Proven For Optimum Energy.

Rado watches have cornered the niche for upmarket watches that are different from more traditional Swiss watches. Rado watches stand out from other watches because of Rado’s use of new, modern materials and striking design. Rado were the first to produce the world’s first truly scratch-proof watch; the DiaStar.

If you’re looking for a top rated, beautiful watch that’s a little different to other comparable watches, then you should take a look at the current collection of Rado watches. I love Rado watches because of the unusual, modern materials that are used. Rado watches are made from materials such as scratch proof ceramic, caoutchouc and Hard Metal.

Famous Brand-Name Watches at 50% Off Movado, Seiko, Gucci, Bulova, ESQ and Swiss Army Watches at 40-50% off, free sizing and free shipping. Five-star rated Yahoo store.

Rado Ceramica has become a design classic. The glass is made from sapphire and the case, crown and bracelet are made from a high-tech, scratch-proof ceramic. The movement is an ultra-precise Swiss movement in either an analog or digital display. It comes in only two colours; black or platinum colour. The case and bracelet are very sleek, with the bracelet composed of simple rectangular links. This watch, like most Rado watches, looks very minimalist, with a much understated style.

Watches at L.L.Bean Shop for quality casual, sport and field watches in popular styles.

The Rado Original looks more like a traditional divers/sport watch. It has a very simple design. Unlike other brands the bezel is smooth, the face is uncluttered and simple and bracelet is simple. Its style is so simple; it almost looks like a ladies watch. In fact, both men and women would feel comfortable wearing a Rado Original. Now for the technical information: the Rado Original comes with Hard Metal bezel, facetted sapphire crystal, screw-down crown with crown protection, screw-down steel case back with the Rado’s stamped ‘Seahorses’ medallion, 100 meters / 333 ft. water resistant. There is an automatic movement. The Rado Original watch is the way diver’s watches used to be: simple, before the competition between watch manufacturers turned these utility watches into the testosterone lumps of metal they are today. I love this watch; in fact, I love it so much I bought one.

Your One stop Rado Shop Shop until you drop.Specialize in Rado Jubile Diamond at lowest price.

The Rado Original DiaStar revolutionized watches. It was the world’s fist scratch-proof watch. The Rado DiaStar still has the looks of a very contemporary watch; it’s hard to believe the watch was first designed over forty years ago!

The Rado Cerix is a very elegant ladies watch. The round face contrasts and yet complements the rhomboid shape of the casing. The whole piece is beautifully finished with diagonally displaced bracelet connecting elements. The Rado Cerix is made from a combination of high-tech ceramics and sapphire crystal. I particularly like the unusual offset position of the crown. The Rado Cerix ladies watch comes in three models, one with a plane face, one with 6 diamonds located between the 3 o’clock and 6 o’clock position, and one with diamonds completely encircling the watch face. The Rado Cerix is a beautiful ladies watch for those who can afford it.

Wholesale Merchandise Thousands of quality items at least 55% below retail prices.

A review of Rado watches can’t overlook the Rado V10K watch. The Rado V10K has to be one of the best wristwatches you can buy. For those looking for a watch that stands at the forefront of technology, the Rado V10K stands out by a mile. The V10K is the most scratch proof watch ever made. The Rado V10K is made from ‘hard diamond’. V10K actually stands for Vickers 10,000 – Vickers being a measure of hardness, with the scale going from 0 to 10,000; the ultimate value that only diamonds can attain; Rado used this as a benchmark when developing the hardest watch in the world. Let’s put this into perspective; stainless steel, which is mainly used in sports watches, only has a Vickers value of 200; only diamonds can scratch the surface of a Rado V10K. The case of the Rado V10K is made from high-tech Diamond and the bracelet is made from caoutchouc and available in black, orange, red or blue. The Rado V10K is a watch I really want to buy; perhaps one day.

Watch at Blue Nile Forbes Favorite Online Jeweler. Free FedEx & 30-day returns.

There are many other collections available from Rado watches: the Sintra, Integral, Crysma, Coupole and others. All Rado watches are high quality timepieces. They are highly desired by collectors and regular buyers alike. If you’re looking for a top rated wristwatch that stands out from the crowd, then a Rado wristwatch is one you should definitely consider.
